Alcoholism is a very serious, powerful, and potentially fatal disease. Because of its ability to weaken inhibitions and provide a sense of comfort, the consumption of alcohol in social situations is common across cultures, age groups, and time periods. However, for some, social drinking turns into a private obsession that quickly takes control of many aspects of their life.

Gambling addiction can be just as devastating as addiction to drugs or alcohol. Many gambling addicts lose their money, job, family, friends, and physical health to this disease. Like alcohol and drugs not everyone who engages in gambling develops an addiction to it and many people are able to enjoy it occasionally as part of a healthy lifestyle.

A sex addiction can be just as devastating to an addict and their family as alcohol or drug addiction. Individuals suffering from a sex addiction compulsively engage in sexual activity despite mounting negative consequences and very often loose their money, family, health, and reputation to this disease.
