California’s proximity to Mexico makes it a prime target for smuggled drugs such as cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine. Mexican drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) are responsible for transporting very large quantities of cocaine into the state in collaboration with Columbian DTOs. Large volumes of marijuana, methamphetamines, crack cocaine and club drugs are produced from with the state. Addictive drugs that can only be obtained with a prescription in the U.S. are smuggled from Mexico where they can be purchases at any pharmacy.
California drug rehab centers & treatment are needed to handle the increasing number of drug abuse victims requiring assistance. The drug user first must recognize they are not able to cope. They must have the ability to see their behavior is antisocial and out of control. Drug rehab centers offer intervention counseling to help the addict take their first step toward recovery. The next phase of detoxification (detox) is a medically supervised process where the patient withdraws from chemical dependency on the drugs. This is typically very difficult and physically painful.
Once the addict is free of the chemical residue and toxins they can take the next step – participation in their own recovery process. Through various methods of counseling they learn to function normally within society. They acquire the skills they need to deal with the issues that first brought them to drug abuse. The most successful recoveries happen when the user continues their involvement in regular support groups after they have been released from the treatment center.
