Cocaine Detox
After the addict has accepted help during the cocaine intervention, they will be taken to a pre-arranged rehabilitation facility. The cocaine detox will occur during the first few days of their cocaine rehab program. The detox procedure will be closely monitored by medical professionals and a highly trained support staff. Together, they will address any medical problems, such as skin abscesses, Hepatitis C, and/or endocarditis, which may have resulted from the addiction. Because cocaine decreases appetite, it is very likely that the addict will be malnourished; therefore, doctors will make sure that all nutritional deficiencies are remedied with the appropriate supplements. They will also watch for signs of anxiety and depression, which are extremely common with cocaine withdrawal.
After detox has been completed, the recovering addict will be involved in a range of programs at the rehab facility. Counselors will help establish a life-long plan for sobriety. After discharge, the individual will need the support of family and friends to continue their recovery process.
