Crystal Meth Detox
Meth detox is the first step of the meth rehab process. Following the meth intervention, the addict will be relocated to a pre-arranged facility. The medical staff at the facility will begin the detox process as soon as it is appropriate for the individual’s situation. Because of the complex nature of any detox process, it is always best that it be monitored by highly trained professionals.
If the individual has used intravenous injection, the facility will check for Hepatitis C, endocarditis, skin abscesses, HIV, and other problems that are caused by this method of delivery. Additionally, the staff will watch for signs of anxiety and depression, which are frequently associated with withdrawal from meth.
After the physical detox process has been completed, the recovering addict will begin the structured program of meth rehabilitation. But before any of this can begin, someone must first ask for help. If your loved one cannot recognize that they have a problem, it is up to you to initiate the process.
