Answer to your Question

Question: Can overuse of Xanax cause nerve damage?

Submitted on: April 25, 2010

Answer: Overuse of Xanax has not been shown to cause nerve damage but it can cause the development of physiologic dependence which can result in seizures if the medication is suddenly stopped. For this reason, it is always advisable to taper off of Xanax rather than stop suddenly
