Answer to your Question

Question: Does crack affect a womans period?

Submitted on: November 14, 2008

Answer: Several studies have suggested that cocaine can affect a woman's period. While it is unclear what the underlying connection is between cocaine use and changes in a woman's period, these changes typically occur in one of the following three forms: amenorrhea (not getting a period), anovulation (getting a period but without an egg having been released), and luteal phase dysfunction (abnormalities occurring between when the egg is released and the beginning of the period). It also appears that cocaine withdrawal may affect a woman's period. For more detailed information on this topic, go to http://www.nida.nih.gov/PDF/DARHW/131-150_Mello.pdf.
