Answer to your Question

Question: How long does the withdrawal symptoms last? Is it a good idea to quit smoking while trying to kick opiates?

Answer:

Withdrawal can last a few days to a few weeks.  It is difficult for people to quit smoking during withdrawal, but there is some evidence that people may be able to stay sober longer if they do quit smoking.  Making the decision to quit smoking during the kick takes very strong determination, and may require some form of help.  1-800-NO-BUTTS is a good resource.
