Answer to your Question

Question: If I go to Drug Rehab how long do I have to stay?

Submitted on: October 10, 2008

Answer: The length of a drug treatment program depends on whether it is residential or outpatient and also on the individual needs of the patient. Residential programs, where the patient lives at the facility during treatment, usually last for 28 days although they may last up to 90 days under certain circumstances. Outpatient programs, where the patient lives at home and comes to the facility for treatment, typically last longer, usually between 6 and 9 months. The frequency of sessions in an outpatient program can vary quite a bit from a few times a week to multiple times per day. Often, an individual will begin an outpatient program after completing a residential program as a way to transition back to living at home.
