Addiction SpecialistAnswer: It is dangerous to attempt detox from alcohol or benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, Ativan) on your own as this can lead to seizures and even death. Detox from any drug is best done with a gradual reduction in dose over time.
