Answer: Watching a family member ruin their health with drugs and alcohol is extremely difficult. In circumstances where the addict or alcoholic is unwilling to acknowledge that they have a problem, an intervention is one option. With the help of a professional interventionist, the family and friends of the individual, confront them with the consequences of their continued drug or alcohol use. If, at that point the individual becomes willing to enter into treatment, they are usually taken to a treatment facility right then. It is important to remember, however, that interventions only be done with the help of a professional interventionist and that even with the best planning, it is always possible that the addict or alcoholic will still refuse treatment. If you have questions about an staging an intervention, you can call the number on our website.
