Answer to your Question
Question: My son is weaning himself off of Suboxone, as he is contemplating joining the military. I understand that the military may not accept him, but how long will it take before this substance would not show up in a drug test?

Addiction SpecialistAnswer: Buprenorphine, the opioid medication in Suboxone, can be detected in the urine with a special test but is not usually included on standard urine toxicology screens, so it is unlikely that it will be screened for. The length of time buprenorphine can be detected in the urine depends on the dose someone has been taking and can vary widely from person to person even with the same dose.
